Hi-Yo!!!
If any of you listen to Elvis Duran and the morning show you will know what my greeting means. If you have never heard of them.. well you must! http://www.elvisduran.com
I know I know.. I have been MIA for quite a while now. I have been in what seems to me like my death bed. Since last Saturday I have been experiencing pounding headaches, nausea and the occasional dizzy spell (which, if physically possible, I would have loved to punch last night.) The Dr. Appointment has been scheduled for tomorrow morning and hopefully we will put all of this to rest. I am just so sick of being sick. I love taking care of my kids and being well to drop them off or pick them up.. This sucks!
It is with utterly effort I am writing at the moment. Glimpses at my phone or anything that makes my eyes strain make it all worse. So here lies my question: How do authors write when they are sick beyond belief? I have had plenty of time to think and dream and have come up with amazing new stories as well as new ideas to add to my almost done book.. but I can barely look at the screen (most of what I am writing is with my eyes closed. I know, I am so talented)
I have also seen on my twitter feed (@luceduceswing) many people I follow are sick as well, but in my case, unfortunately it is the second time the same symptoms disable me. The first time lasting for over a month.
So how do you guys work through it all? Do you just carry on and endure the pain?
Please leave a comment as I am intrigued by other writer’s methods!
Hope everyone has a great day and I cannot wait to be ME again!
Xoxo,
Lucy

I get really bad migraines, and suffer from a chronic illness that leaves me in the bed for weeks at a time. So I know what you mean when you say you are sick of being sick...
ReplyDeleteThe writing at times is at a standstill. When I'm feeling well enough I get the laptop and write in bed. Other times I simply just can't do it. Take the pressure off yourself! You write when you can, after your body has healed. The computer screen hurts when I'm having a migraine, so I just try to jot down notes or scenes in a notebook. Don't be so hard in yourself, your project will still be there when you get better. :)
I know! It is just so frustrating :( I have never been one to get sick and lately I have been getting really terrible migraines. Last one as I mentioned lasted over a month, with hospital trips, etc.. Nothing came up! But now again.. And the pressure in my head is unbearable! Ai ai ai. But like u said, I'll try to write on a notepad and hope to remember it all once I am better!! Thanks for the advice!! And keep feeling well! :)
ReplyDeleteDuring the days I compose, I write every day regardless, I can’t help it. So, I don’t have a trick or any other suggestion besides write to the end.
ReplyDeleteIt is revisions that suck my life away; it is a very tedious and stressful time for me.
I hope you feel better.
Hi, Lucy. Sorry to hear of your illness.
ReplyDeleteI usually get alergy issues a couple of times a year. When it's bad, I'm a phlegm factory of garbage that never stop producing (sorry) and usually coughing my guts out. Now I'm taking shots every three months...
Have you thought about trying a microcassette recorder? I use one for interviewing magazine article subjects, and have never really tried it for writing fiction, but it is an option.
Feel better soon, okay.
